Controls and placement

Free and Classic control, PICK, rotation, and aiming skills.

Free and Classic control

Free control lets you aim directly at a position on the board without navigating around every obstacle on the way. The final landing position is still checked. Classic control starts pieces at the top and moves them one cell at a time; solid blocks and boundaries obstruct movement. Pieces do not fall automatically in Classic control either. Press Space to hard-drop and place.

Choose the control mode when creating a save. Classic control applies to battles; challenges keep their own controls.

Common actions

Action Mouse or touch Keyboard
Select a piece Click PICK with a mouse, or drag a piece out Arrow keys to begin; C / L to switch PICK
Aim Move the mouse or drag Arrow keys / WASD
Rotate Mouse wheel, or the rotation zones beside the panel when dragging Z / J counterclockwise; X / K clockwise
Place Click the board, or release at a valid position Space
Select a skill Click or drag a skill 1 / 2 / 3
Cancel Right-click, Esc, or release a drag at an invalid position Esc

With touch or a pen, a tap does not leave a piece selected: drag and drop instead. While dragging, tap with a second finger to rotate. A tap to the left of the board’s center rotates counterclockwise; a tap to the right rotates clockwise. Entering a panel rotation zone rotates once; staying there does not keep rotating.

Landing and rotation limits

The preview position and final landing position can differ: normally, the piece settles downward. You cannot place inside solid blocks or submit inside a forbidden zone. Passable materials and enemy effects that change gravity follow their own rules.

When a Classic rotation is blocked, it tries one cell down, one left and one down, one right and one down, then two down. If the piece is still overlapping, try moving up, sideways, or rotating to escape. Forbidden zones prevent placement, but do not block movement through them.

Skill targeting and control changes

Confirm skills on their intended target. Queue skills target the queue; even whole-board skills require confirmation on the board. Selecting the same skill again cancels it.

Arrow keys can take over aiming. After a drag is taken over by the keyboard, releasing the pointer will not accidentally place the piece. PICK remembers a slot, not the identity of its old piece. Selecting a piece again after a skill resets its position and orientation.
